Myths About Plasma Lights - Ace- - 03-08-2020

Here are some of the most common myths about plasma lights:

Plasma Lights Are Not Energy Efficient

People usually think about energy efficiency in terms of the number of watts consumed. The fewer the watts, the more efficient the lamp. However, efficiency is not just about wattage. It is about how well a lighting system transforms electricity into the light plants evolved to thrive in, and the coverage footprint.

Our plasma systems convert 75% of the electricity they use into light. They do this so well and so uniformly that two 1300W lamps can cover up to a 225 sq. ft. area evenly. You would need at least fifteen HID lamps (each 1000W) to cover the same space.

Plasma Lights Have A Limited Spectrum

Most growers are aware that humans and plants like different kinds of light. Choosing lights that emit the right spectrum for plants is just one part of the puzzle.

In order to produce the highest quality plants while increasing dry weight yields, the gas mixtures in our plasma lamps have been honed to deliver the sun’s complete spectrum:

Plasma Lights Are Too Expensive

Based on the price tag alone, an individual plasma light is indeed more expensive than most other lights on the market. However, similar to the wattage issue, growers should take a closer look. Plasma technology is an investment that pays back in the first grow in most situations.

With its increased efficiency (think what halving your energy bill every month would look like) and higher yields, the lamps pay for themselves over a short time. Growers of medical cannabis crops using Sun On-Demand systems have reported yield increases of at least 25%, even in difficult to grow landrace strains.

Plasma Lights Have A Limited Life

In the early days of plasma lights, inferior components used by manufacturers greatly limited their shelf-life. Thankfully those days are over! Our plasma lights have a useful lifetime of up to 100,000 hours.

Because plasma light bulbs don’t use filaments or electrodes, their spectrum and efficiency don’t degrade over their lifetime. This also means you’ll be spending a lot less time and money replacing bulbs!

Plasma Lights Have A Low Coverage Area

Light coverage and penetration are important factors to consider when buying any indoor grow light. One way lighting companies compare lights is through coverage measurements, such as PPFD values.

PPFD measures the amount of light arriving at the plant per second within the visible spectrum, and in a specific area and at a specific distance from the light. A high PPFD rating represents dense light which also evenly distributes across the canopy. Our systems have a PPFD of 2,000 or higher, a magnitude above LEDs, HID, and other grow lights.

This thread is about a light resource from Plazma Light, i.e. by means of electric energy.
But I just want to share some other unique resources of light, like Light Emitted Plants by means of the latest and modern technology.
